EDUCATIONAL PROJECT FOR STROKE CARE MEDICALS

As part of the joint project of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the World Bank, "Improving Healthcare for the People," in collaboration with the NGO "Ukrainian Association of Neurosurgeons," a series of training sessions for doctors and medical personnel of stroke units was initiated in November 2023. Initially, the program included 15 hospitals in various regions of Ukraine, but recently the list has been expanded to an additional 10 institutions.

As of today, the board members and active participants of the USMS have already participated in 10 such training sessions in Sumy, Bila Tserkva, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Uman', Vinnytsia and Berdychiv. The training program includes materials on normative documents, clinical guidelines for revascularization therapy in ischemic stroke, as well as methods of assistance in various types of hemorrhagic stroke, including spontaneous intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhages, issues of secondary prevention, treatment of complications, and the algorithm for organizing patient care in different periods of the disease.

The nursing component involves discussing aspects of caring for stroke patients during the first 24 hours. In the practical part of the event, participants practice NIHSS scaling, simulate clinical cases involving the entire team providing assistance to a stroke patient, analyze the patient's route in a specific institution, and engage in post-discussion.

To assess the quality of training effectiveness, pre-and post-training testing is conducted.
